Fitness data analytics as a service

Our methodology is based on the modern work in sports psychology and physical activity monitoring, enhanced with our work in fitness data analytics that leads to a novel combination (hybrid model) of well-defined, expert-driven and data-driven modeling.

Fitness data analytics as a service

One of the most important questions that fitness businesses and professional fitness instructors are asking is how to keep my customers healthy, satisfied, engaged and to manage the churn. It is not an easy task. However, examples from other domains indicate that data-driven solutions, which are exploiting the value of the generated data, can be useful for business improvement. This is a part of the digitalization which has overwhelmed every industry and the world of fitness as well.

The value of fitness data is already recognized by individual users, e.g. every third runner is using a device for collecting some data about personal physical exercise. Due to its huge expansion, it seems that there is an unexploited opportunity which Smart4Fit is trying to seize: providing advanced personal monitoring and analytics support solution for professional fitness studios.

Smart4Fit Fitness Analytics is a data-driven innovation for enabling an efficient and continual improvement of the fitness performances of a trainee through achieving a so-called true level of personalization - dynamic personalization derived from a deep understanding of the real-time behavour.

Due to the digitalization, fitness is going through a huge transformation: new types of devices have appeared and in addition to new techniques for supporting exercising, most of them are recording various parameters of an exercise and are able to communicate these values to other systems. This provides huge opportunities for the personalized configuration of the devices and a better adaptation of the fitness infrastructure to a particular training situation.

The orientation towards connected infrastructure is av ery promising course of development of the fitness industry. Moreover, there is a very positive trend in improvement of fitness methodology through some level of personalization of training plans and devices to each individual. Although in most cases personalization is based on the physiological data, the psychology of the trainee is seldom included, which has at least equal, if not even bigger, impact on the trainee effective progress and satisfaction. Indeed, a proper modeling of a trainee is a difficult task and require a lot of expert knowledge, especially inside a connected fitness studio.

Although modern devices have different features that can be personalized (adjustments, measurements, recommendations), the problem fitness industry is facing is that a deep understanding of a trainee behaviour, that will reflect what a trainee can achieve (model), what he wants to achieve (personal goals) and what has achieved (fitness level), is missing.  By applying a proper solution, that combined model and data-driven approaches, the true level of personalization is reached and the most effective and satisfying progress of the trainee is ensured.
